Sorry I've taken so long, I don't spend much time on my site.
My e-mail is: protechusalmp@yahoo.com.
I hate to say it but I have some repairs to do. I rolled mine. Driving on a street I hit a small hole when I turned and over she went. Bent the windshield frame, knocked out the divers side window, and some of the chrome molding.
I all most purchased a new Ampi. in 1967 as my first new car. Same color as I built, there are 3 in my area a red in Mt olive, N.J., a white in Hopatcong, N.J. (my town) and the blue in Sussex, N.J. Mine is 1/8 scale so she is about 22 inch long. I built her almost 8 years ago and I still do not have the roof working right. The controls I have are directionals, head lights, running lights, horn, wheel drive, prop drive, and roof up/down. I still have not decided to make the wipers work.
Where are you located it would be fun to see them run together.
I do spend lot of time on RC Groups, In Dock Talk and Scale Boats.

Hi Gill. Yeah, it looks as if my Amphicar is a little bigger . I don't know what scale but mine is 32.5 inchs long from front bumper to rear bumpers. It also weighs 13.5 pounds with the three batteries installed. I didn't know that they were available in 6 colours. I was told only 4 colours was the choice !!. The colour I chose isn't quite right. It's a little more teal than aqua, but that was my choice. I just liked the colour better. Also I spiced up the interior scheme a little as well. I figured that these cars are so rare, that there probably would never be one parked at the boat pond for someone to compare the differences!!! Thanks

Love the Amphicar !!! I also built one and it's funny we chose almost the same colour !! My Amphi can be seen on youtube at " Kevinmham's channel " There is also a link on RC Universe. It would be cool to see them both in the water at the same time.

You right Doug the unit you are talking about was a MARX (4&5 pictures in "Model Drives") There were two versions availbale with and with out motor.
This drive has not been made for a long time. the few that are left are in the hands of collectors. If you do find one for sale the price will be over $ 375.00 for one in good condition.

Back in the mid 1960's I had an orange plastic boat drive unit. It used a milli or mono perm motor. (ala MARX) It split into two pieces for installation through the hull. (Just had to drill about a 1/2" hole straight down) It was a steeragle drive unit that had a circular nozzle around the prop. At the time most local hobby shops sold this item. Now I can't track any down. Any idea what this was???

Mr. Gill, I used your idea for making the radar dish move on the Calypso by using a 3.7 gram servo, and it works great! Thank you for the idea.

Sorry I don't remember the names. There were a number of elevators on the ship including the aircraft.
Tina (Kurfurst) Manning says...Hi John,
I was wondering if you knew an old shipmate that went by the name "Moose". His name was Rodger Kurfurst (my dad). He told me that he also did something with the elevators on the Essex CVS-9 from 65-69. I was trying to find some shipmates for him. Do Bob Watts or Gene Kelley sound familiar to you?
